WALNUT CREEK, CA. August 28, 2009 – Professional HealthCare, a leading provider of home nursing, rehabilitation therapy, hospice care and non-medical caregiver services in Northern California and Utah, has been approved for Medicare licenses at its Professional Healthcare at Home office in San Jose, California, and its Haven Healthcare office in Layton, Utah. Among its 13 service offices throughout California and Utah, nine are now fully Medicare-certified for skilled home health services.
“As a full-service agency, we offer both medical and non-medical home care services, and each office that provides medical services requires Medicare certification,” explains John Griscavage, CEO. “The continued expansion of Medicare-licensed offices and growth in the staffing of skilled clinicians is part of our strategy to be highly responsive to the home health needs of the communities we serve.” The majority of the company’s clients are elderly adults who appreciate access to home health and caregiver services in order to remain in their homes as long as possible. “By offering a full range of both medical and non-medical home care services,” continues Griscavage, “we are able to provide continuity of care that enhances our clients’ overall comfort and quality of life.”

Caregiver from Professional HealthCare at Home Rescues Patient from Burning Home in Fremont, California
WALNUT CREEK, CA. June 30, 2009 – Anita Atienza, an employee of Professional HealthCare at Home, a leading provider of home nursing, rehabilitation therapy and personal caregiver services in Northern California, was recently recognized by Fire Chief Bruce Martin of the City of Fremont, commending her bravery and assistance with her patient. On April 27, 2009, a fire had broken out in the patient’s home while Atienza was on duty. Not only did she remove burning items from the closet to the exterior of the house, but she returned inside under smoky conditions to remove her disabled patient to safety, before quickly contacting emergency services. Her actions prevented the fire from spreading into something much larger, and saved the patient from severe smoke exposure and injuries.
According to Atienza, “The day after the fire, the family was so happy they gave me lots of flowers and the biggest box of chocolates I ever saw.”
The company’s CEO, John Griscavage, also thanked Atienza for her efforts and commitment. “She is a great example of how we serve our patients and community,” he states. All of the company’s skilled nursing professionals, rehabilitation therapists, home health aides and personal caregivers are trained in emergency procedures as a fundamental part of their care duties, with ongoing training updates. “The home environment presents many potential hazards,” continues Griscavage. “Our company is committed to the highest level of safety and comfort for clients and employees.”
